Panzhihua is a Municipality in Sichuan province, China. It lies on the border of Sichuan and Yunnan province, which is an economic center. It is an important base of energy sources and raw materials in the economic areas of the Yangtze River. This city is the biggest base that provides vanadium and titanium in China.
Panzhihua is the only city named after a flower’s name in our country and is the top city in upper reaches of the Yangtze River. It was awarded many honorary titles in sequence, for example “Chinese Excellent Tourism City”, “National Health City” and “Chinese Capital of Vanadium and Titanium”.
Panzhihua has the world’s largest distribution area of wild natural Cycas. They are in full blossom every year. These plants flourished in the Cretaceous Period which was 270 million years ago. Therefore Cycas is called one of the “Three national treasures in Sichuan”.

With annual more than 300 frost-free days and total sunshine hours over 2700h, Panzhihua has one of the world’s rarely climate called “temperature inversion garden”. Therefore it could easily solve the problem of rapidly growth of vegetable and fruits in winter.. While in the cold winter in north China, Panzhihua’s vegetable and fruits are carried by the trains and delivered to the markets in north China.
Walking between the urban and rural areas in Panzhihua, you will find that there are so many subtropical fruits and flowers (such as mango, pomegranate, navel orange, cherry, tomato, loquat, litchi, longan and so on) bathe under the warm sunshine with people.

Panzhihua is very famous for its mineral museum, bridge museum, a specific culture museum that under its immigrant culture----the blending of ancient and modern, primitivity and civilization, which is full of rational glory.
Er Tan Hydropower Station on the Yalong River is a significant clean energy project in China. Meanwhile, the abundant solar energy over the Er Tan dam drives this city to expect a new green energy development.
“Better city, better life! ” This concept could be fully implement as “put all the efforts to build a high efficiency strategic resource exploitation base; a modern agricultural base; an eco-tourism resort and a regional central city”, which was put forward by Panzhihua’s decision-makers. 7

Panzhihua city is as beautiful as a blooming flower. It is the only city named after a flower’s name in China. In the winter, it’s very warm and comfortable under the sunshine, the average temperature is about 20℃. In the spring time, there are a lot of beautiful flowers everywhere. Many tourists from inland and abroad come here during the winter to enjoy their romantic leisure time.
There are 42 ethnic minorities in this Golden Canyon, including Han, Yi, Miao and Lisu. The tourists are quite easy to be captivated by its charming natural scenery and the exotic folk customs. 8
The transportation in Panzhihua is very convenient and developed: airport, freeway and railway are well organized throughout this city. Some new freeway and railway are under construction, other new traffic projects are under processing. 9
